Which is better option for engineering?

<p>Hi Everyone, I'm in an in-state student who is a junior and plans on applying for engineering next year. </p>

<p>Compared to the average data for computer/electrical engineering, my class rank is slightly low (I'm around 85 percentile compared to the average 89 percentile) but I have a decent ACT score (33). UIUC is my #1 choice but I want to make sure that I get in, so which of the following options would be best?</p>

<p>1) Apply directly on the application for either Computer or Electrical Engineering.</p>

<p>2) Apply for General Engineering(heard less difficult to get into) on the application, and then transfer into Comp/Electrical Engineering after freshman year since the curriculum is almost identical for the first year?</p>

<p>Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks</p>

<p>trust me buddy. i got into electrical engineering with WAYYYYYY worse stats. apply for electrical engineering. i know that if you apply priority with those sats. you're set.</p>
