I'm in a panic. I can only take the SAT one more time in january for my score for my 2006 college app. My scores are:
SAT 2: math 2- 800; US History- 740; Literature- 680 :(
SAT 1: Math 770, writing 680; reading 690 (combo: 2140)
ACT: 32
The colleges I want to apply for needs three SAT 2 scores (and my literature is really bad). SHould I take the SAT 1 again to improve it or take the SAT 2 again? Which is more important to colleges?

def take SAT I...i applied to greatest colleges in nation my SAT II Lit is 500 or so...but SAT II is 2400ish.kindof.

if the colleges that you're applying to require only two SAT IIs, forget the literature. go for the SAT. otherwise, i don't know.

The difference is that SAT 1 you'll likely not be able to raise that much, but you might be able to raise the SATII enough to make a difference. My advice is to retake U.S. history and not literature, something else that it is actually possible to study for well. Then set aside a lot of time and study your butt off.

retake us history? a 740 is not worth retaking at all. i dont even think the literature is that bad, its a damn hard test

retaking a subject test= ridiculous. most schools who take the subjects tests won't count a certain test agianst you if "its bad." subjects theoretically are only meant to help you or distinguish you- if theyre bad they simply just won't help/distinguish you. subjects even for schools that require them are a sub-secondary factor (discounting some engineering/ba/md programs). plus think who youre taking the tests against, retaking a subject test will besides throwing money at the collegeboard, make you look like an idiot to the adcom, since the collegeboard's reports are cumulative

Thanks for the advice guys. I definitely won't take literature again, planning on taking physics because of the nice curve. I took the SAT 1 in sophomore year, and shouldn't have, but did just "wing it". Do you think that colleges will look at my ACT score in place of my SAT score?

if its better i'm sure they would- or should- some colleges i believe are a little biased SAT or ACT(even though its supposed to be nuetral gorund)- usually its the ACT that gets disrespected though---(I'm emphasizing my ACT score in my apps--- even though I took the SAT subjects and unfortunately colleges will see my perversely embarrasing SATI scores too since i sent the subjects(damn cumulative repoert)---I guess we'll just have to see how it really works out)

Retake the SAT

SAT = College Admission
SAT II = Class placement/ Boarderline cases

I got a 36 on reading on the ACT's, so I'm hoping that colleges will see this and know that I'm literate.
