intel > amd at this point
it seems that amd creates more heat compared to intel counterpart

Intel = Europe slammed a multimillion dollar fine on its ass for antitrust cases

so **** it

haha i just researched that and had a good laugh
never knew that intel was trying to neutralize its competition.
No wonder i rarely see AMD processors being offered on laptop sites
Im still an Intel fan though

I guess

dunno

Overall I’ll probably just stick to whatever gets me the best deal

I have never used an AMD processor. Are they good?

I have an HP dv2945se (the one with the vector-like design on the housing) with an AMD processor and 64-bit Vista. I’ve had it for about a year (since last late July) and I have had no problems. I mainly use it for Internet, research and typing papers – typical school stuff. The heaviest thing I do on my computer is probably photo-editing.

I’m not really into computers, but I have used both Intel and AMD processors. Frankly, I don’t notice a huge difference, or not one that would seriously matter to me anyway.

sounds like a scam, i wouldnt trust this…

Yay, I just got my HP HDX 16t yesterday from FedEx (4 days earlier than Estimated Delivery Date :D) and I am sooo in love with this PC. I tried out my first game on it today: Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, and man oh man, it is so smooth. I put it to Max settings and it still runs it as smooth as ever. I know I won’t be playing games much in college, but still, having this type of computer will last me for a long long time. I’m happy I went with HP.

congrats on your buy mate! sounds like a nice rig :D

Haha, thanks man. It was a really nice buy too. Only $699 but $774 with tax and recycling fee. It’s usually a $1200 computer.

is it recommended that we buy a laptop cooler, because its so hot and it might fry our laptops?

Its not needed but laptop coolers will extend the laptop’s lifespan.
If you can afford it, I’d say buy the Zalman nc1000 or nc2000. They are probably the one of the best laptop cooler out right now

Just go somewhere and find a recycled laptop and put linux on there. It’ll run smooth.

I would do that if I wasn’t looking to game here and there at ucr

I’ll probably end up with one of those budget 500 dollar laptops lol

but I’m planning to spend over 100 dollars in accessories…

case
cooler
wireless mouse
lock

You might want to think about screen protector as well. Cheap but effective at keeping your laptop screen undamaged

why not get a water proof laptop

Its actually for preventing damage from the keyboard, which can leave marks on the screen and it looks terrible

true, i want to get one of those rubber keyboards and a monitor for my dorms
