** which looks better - college course or extra ap?

i’ve been debating as to what would be better for me for next semester [i am currently a junior]. my options are…

community college course - taking political science at a community college. this is a subject that i am truly passionate about and law and government is somewhat of a theme i am trying to be consistent with in my college apps. also, isn’t it that taking college courses in general looks good?
or
extra ap - i could do self-study to take ap macroeconomics. however, i am already planning to take 4 ap exams in may so i am unsure if i will be motivated enough to take an additional exam aside from the ones that i am already “required” to take. i’m also unsure if i would get at least a 4 if i am just doing self-study. [has anyone else done self-study for ap macroecon?? any textbook suggestions???]

so, thats the situation i am in… any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

It sounds as though you are leaning towards the college course, which is also what I would recommend. I think a new atmosphere and the different schedule of a college makes a nice change from HS and will help keep you motivated. With such an ambitious schedule, be sure you don't procrastinate; you'll have college applications and visits, plus lots of senior year activities that leave much less time for studying.

I would suggest that you take the community college course. You sound more excited and interested in it, and that is what matters. Secondly, I took a Psychology class at a community college over the summer for fun, and I found out that all of the schools I applied to will accept it as a transfer credit. This might work for you too.
