I am about to start scheduling for my senior year, and i was wondering which of these options would look better to the admissions offices. Taking all AP classes at my high school. Ex- AP lit, AP Biology, AP Government, and then Pre Calc, along with french 3 and some other electives. Or trying to branch out my classes, and take AP Biology and AP Government at my high school, and then take English 101 and Pre Calc, at the local community college, through a program called Running Start. I am looking at University of Washington, Boston University, Northeastern, and American University. I have already taken 2 AP classes, and an honors class. I don’t know which of these will be more appealing to the admissions office. Thanks for your help!

While I don’t think that there is much of a difference between what “looks better,” admissions will see that you are challenging yourself either way. The difference you may want to consider is receiving credit. There is usually a very probably chance that you will receive credit for the AP classes assuming you earn a high enough score but BU (or any other college for that matter) will not always accept classes from another college. Make sure you check with each school via an email or call whether or not your credit can be transferred. Don’t forget to check their AP policies so you can see what is accepted for credit. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input Alectricity, i am thinking i am going to take AP Bio, Ap Lit, AP comperative Gov, french 3 and some other electives at my high school then pre calc at the local community college

I agree with Alectricity. As long as you’re challenging yourself, then the admission boards will like it!

Alright thanks for your input guys. Anyone else?

do whatever schedule you think that you would thrive better in. i chose ap bio because i looove biology but i am currently hating the class and not doing well because i HATE my teacher. ask around the seniors at your school. im sure they will be more than willing to help yooou and offer their advice for scheduling
