Which major to apply as?

So im applying to ucla from another uc for next fall and the apps due in about 1-2 weeks. Im stuck between two majors that are basically the same thing but different in classwork. Im applying as either a Geology major or Geology/engineering geology major. Im more interested in unrenewable resources like oil&gas, gems, minerals, and nuclear energy which is more of the basic geology major BUT the acceptance rate for that major is relatively low, usually ~15-25 applicants with about 5-7 being accepted (usually a 20-30% acceptance rate). Then theres engineering geology which has ~3-10 applicants with about 3-7 being accepted (usually a 50-100% average). The average gpas for both are 3.4-3.6 for Geology and 3.3-3.5 for engineering geology. At the moment I have a 3.84 gpa at UCSC and hoping for 1 more 4.0 this quarter (most likely ill be getting a 3.85-4.0 unless i mess up extremely bad on my finals or something)

Does anyone know if transfers can switch majors in the same division? both majors are under earth and space sciences and I believe engineering geology is even a subdivision under regular geology.

Since both are nonimpacted majors, would my chances change a lot if i applied for regular geology vs engineering geology? Both majors have a low applicant pool (20-30) and (3-10)

Ive tried calling UCLA about some other stuff about the majors and a staff lady told me that it looks like i have pretty good chance at the engineering geology major since im on track with most of the pre-reqs besides the ones that i cant do at my current school. Im actually more on track with the regular geology major than the engineering geology major if it even makes a difference.

I really need help soon cuz I need to sign up for classes and this decision might change my class choice.
