Hello everyone, this is my first post on here, so please forgive me if I violate some posting rules/norms.
I'm currently an incoming senior in high school, and I plan on attending a four-year college/university after graduation. I'm interested in joining a law enforcement agency (e.g. DEA, NSA, FBI, etc.) after I graduate from college. However, I'm not quite sure what to major in. I've heard that Criminology/ Criminal Justice degrees are not quite suitable for the career I have in mind (i.e. field work), but I'm not sure what WOULD be suitable.
I'm also aware that specializing in a certain type of entry skill ( foreign language proficiency, computer science, etc.) and a background in either the military or a local police department will greatly increase my chances of being accepted into one of the larger law enforcement agencies, so I plan on joining a local police department after college, and I'm already fluent in Mandarin.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Here is what the FBI seeks for their volunteer internship program which is something you should consider. Why set your sites on the local police when you can possibly get your foot in the door with an agency like the FBI while you are in college.

Oh, wow. Thanks, I didn’t know about this program.

Another avenue to consider would be to go ROTC and with your fluency in Mandarin, you could be valuable. It can be a possible entry to national security.
