I'm a sophomore looking at math camps for this summer and I'm not sure where it would be best to apply. I enjoy math, and would like to go into a math-based science, but I have a problem. I do very well in my precalculus class and I'm considered a great student by all of my teachers, but when I go to my area math circle I'm suddenly the dumbest person in the room. It's very mentally confusing for me. I got about a 50 on the AMC10 last year and I consistently do poorly on the problem sets at meetings and at our monthly math meet. I don't work well with the other students on group problems because I either don't have any confidence that my idea even makes sense or because I don't understand what's happening. I never did mathcounts or CTY or anything, so I guess I don't have the same tools and maneuvers as everyone else.

TL;DR: I'm a good learner but I don't think I'm as prepared as the average applicant.

Thanks for your input :) I really appreciate it.
