210 Plan .................... $2,110 per semester *
150 Plan .................... $2,035 per semester
105 Plan .................... $1,770 per semester*

Which meal plan should I pick? I will be a sophomore who will be living in the suites next year. I'd like to eat 3 meals/day, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the dining hall food.

1 question, how many meals did you eat last semester? That should be your starting point.

Theoretically all the calculations sound good, but many students don’t realize how many meals they eat off-campus. As a suite student, you are required to take the 105 as a minimum. If you eat a few meals more, you can purchase 5-meal mini-blocks as needed, $35 per block, up to 5 blocks (total of 25 extra meals). If you easily eat more than 130 meals per semester, I’d get the 150 plan or larger.

Remember that if you run out of meals, you can pay cash at the going rate, although I would only do that if it was a question of a few meals, not a few dozen.

If you are not sure, remember that they will let you upgrade, but downgrades are only allowed during the first 2 weeks of class.

I ate about 200 meals last semester, but I had to try in vain to use them up. I don’t dine out a lot except at nights when the dining halls are closed and I’m starving. I’m just wondering if getting the 105 meal plan is the most economical way to go, because even though it has half as many meal plans as 210, it’s only $340 cheaper. This means that I’m paying about 17 bucks a pop.

I agree that the 105 plan stinks as far as value goes (see my 105 meal plan rant on another thread). I would only take it if you are someone who doesn’t eat many meals on campus and are required to purchase it as a minimum.

If you eat anywhere near 200 meals, I’d get the 210 meal plan and not worry about going to the dining hall for an apple or just to hang out.

yeah i say take the 210. i used about 180 last semester because i was worried about running out but this semester i’ve been going in to get some fruit or some coffee before class in the morning. i think i’ll be much closer to the 210.

the 210 is definitely a better value and you dont really need to worry too much about running out so you can use swipes for snacks etc

So (if you are paying the term bill) you can get a price if you know which meal plan you are choosing and which housing you will be living in. It varies.

If your son has presidential scholarship, I’m not sure how they work it out. You could probably call student accounting or financial aid.
