I have signed up for 255 meal plan but I am worried it may not be enough. Although I don't eat LOADS, I like have the security of knowing I can eat if I am hungry. Is 255 enough, is it hard to have enough meals by the end of the semester?

I got the 210 plan my Freshman year and ended up with about 100 left. Of course, I live nearby, so I ate at home/church most weekends. However, consider that most college students won't get up for breakfast, realistically it becomes two meals a day with a few late night take outs. Also, remember that sometimes you're going to want to eat out with friends at a place other than the dining hall.

In coming up with the prices for the meal plans each year, Rutgers has a universal price per meal. They then multiply that by the number of meals eaten by a person with a certain meal plan to get the next years price. That is why the 210, 255, and 285 plans are all within $150 of each other; On average, a person with the 285 plan is only eating an extra meal or so a week compared to the 210 person.

Only you know how much you plan on eating. I do not see a need for the higher meal plans, but at the same time, the price is not that much more.

i have heard of 1 person using up a 285 meal plan...but thats because he ate 4, yes, 4 times a day
as theacks says, realistically you only eat about 2 meals a day
and have loads to waste
ive had friends swipe in for brownies and ice cream once...

I eat breakfast and since i am out of state I will have no spending money to ever eat out. But 255 is enough, right?

you'll be fine, i know people at rutgers with 255 plan and they have more than enough meals leftover when the year ends.

I guarantee you will still have meals left over at the end of the semester everyone always does

I had a 255 my first semester as a freshman and had like 70 meals remaining. This semester, I have a 210.

I think 255 is a bit much, but you will defintely have enough meals. You really should take into account the weekends you might be visiting home or the early classes that won't allow for breakfast. I think in the first week or 2 of school you're allowed to change your plan. If you do take the 210 and you run out, you can refil. I think this past semester it was like $35 for 5 meals. If you do the math, the rate is no that far off conpared to one of the plans.
