Which medical schools favor applicants from their own undergraduate schools? Which schools don't, or actively discriminate against their own students? Can you also cite evidence? Thank you.

I have no evidence offhand, but I'm 95% sure Emory admits to favoring its own undergrads.

No such evidence exists.

How about schools that people generally think favor their own?

Generally, Internet posters always think every school favors its own, because they can't keep track of the difference between disproportionate matriculation/application and admission.

In my judgment, Duke*, WUSTL, and Chicago clearly favor their own. By reputation, so does Northwestern, but that might be an artifact of HPME. Hopkins, Columbia, Stanford are all reputed to punish their own -- but so is WUSTL, and that's a false reputation for WUSTL.

(*I am not very sure. They do weird things.)

bluedevilmike, I find it odd you insist that Emory has never admitted to preferring their own undergrads, yet while I was looking for a reference for it, I found a post by you yourself saying the same thing: "Many schools openly claim to favor their own -- Northwestern, Chicago, and Emory come to mind."

That was a misstatement on my part, sorry. What I should have said was: "Students at several schools have told me that their undergraduate admissions offices claim that the medical school there favors their own."

Creighton...it's not as strong as it once was, as they've gotten rid of all their "guaranteed admissions" criteria they had for their undergraduates at one time, but there still remains a very strong link.

I think JHU Med does favor its own. I saw a statistic somewhere that showed that more incoming students come from JHU undergrad than any other school. Sure, more people from JHU apply, but the number is quite large. I think they do favor their own to some extent.
