which of the 3 main service academies is the toughest to get in overall? Be honest.

Don't start this again, this happened a while back and got nowhere.

They are all equally tough because they have the same requirements, same number of spots, and generally the same number of people applying.

The only slight difference would be if you live some place that does not have great influence from one of the branches, i.e. Navy in the middle of Wyoming, then there might not be as much competition for that one congressional spot.

Overall though, they are equally tough.

Of course all of them. There is this one person that wanted to go to USAFA as a first choice, but then ended up with USNA. And another person who wanted to go to USNA because it was her choice, but ended up in USAFA. And same with USMA, USMMA, and USCGA.

I've heard USAFA has the most academically demanding admissions requirements of the academies. I think I also read it in a Princeton Review magazine...

It's up for speculation. Some believe USAFA is the hardest academically, and some believe its USNA...so on and so forth. But as texas falcon said, the REAL importance is your congressman.

The question shouldn't be which is the hardest to get into, but what do you want to do.

Let's assume that your first desire is to serve your country. That is after all why they are called service academies.

Do you know you want to be in the Air Force? -- go to USAFA

Do you know you want to be in the Army? -- go to West Point

Do you know you want to be in the Navy, but don't know whether you want to fly or drive subs or be on a surface ship -- Go to USNA.

Do you want to be in the Navy and know you want to be a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) -- then think about USMMA, because you will have spent more time at sea standing watch and managing a large ship than most junior officers in the Navy and you will be way ahead of your USNA counterparts.

Do you want to have the option to do any of the above? go to USMMA.

They are all hard to get into, and even harder to stay in. You have to be a special young American to go to any of them.

What was the point of your question?

deja vu all over again...

I just received an appointment to the US Air Force Academy. This girl I know from USNA keep disisng the air force academy. That is all. No big deal.
