Put poetry under an additional info/hobbies/interests section, unless you have had any published or write for a paper or something.

If the basketball is in a league (Say YMCA, or Church league) you can put it, but if its just playing pickup games put it in a interests section with the poetry.

For the guitar, yes, include it. Especially if you take lessons, give lessons, or have anything else to show as proof for your commitment to guitar. Im a fellow guitar enthusiast :)

Probably- in that case I would put it on there somewhere, but not sure where, you will have to figure that one out yourself. Not sure how highly colleges will regard that, but it would be worth your time putting it down.

Definitely Guitar, especially if you have played in shows. Wish I was that good lol. If getting into your school paper is hard then I would mention that as a side-note i.e. paper is selective in publishing articles etc. I would put that under additional info or misc. though. Good luck!

I play a lot of recreational basketball at the park, in my neighborhood, and at my house. I plan on putting it in the EC common app section because its my most passionate activity? (~7 hrs/week for most of the year for a long time…) So I have the same question as the OP: Does it belong there, or in the Additional Info Section?

If I were you I would put it in the common app, even though its only recreational (i’m assuming no varsity or awards), under the common app “elaborate on one activity” section (I can’t remember the exact name/section its called, its the one right after the activities list) you could write 150 words about it. However, I would make very sure this is the MOST passionate EC you have since if I’m not wrong, there is only room for 1 EC. Personally I would elaborate on awards won for other ECs in that section but its your app so its up to you. Good luck and hope this helps.
