Which of these School's Are Most Alike and Different?

I have just started my college search by forming a preliminary list of the colleges I am interested in:

Amherst C
Bates C
Boston C
Bowdoin C
Brandeis U
Brown U
Colby C
Colgate U
Columbia U
Cornell U
Dartmouth C
Duke U
Emory U
Georgetown U
Harvard C
Johns Hopkins U
Middlebury C
MIT
New York U
Northwestern U
Oberlin C
Princeton U
Swarthmore C
U Chicago
U Pennsylvania
Vanderbilt U
Vassar C
Washington U St. L.
Williams C
Yale U

Obviously, I will not apply to all of these schools. I am planning on narrowing it down to probably around 10, plus 2 safeties which will be SUNY/CUNY schools. Which of the schools on the list are the most similar in terms of overall life (including academics, sports, social scene, etc)? Also, which are most different?

Bump 10 char

Personal opinion:

Big-name/Ivies (universities, not LACs)
Brown
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Duke
Georgetown
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
MIT
Princeton
Penn
U Chicago
Wash. U St Louis
Yale

Universities just under top-tier:
Boston College
Brandeis
Colgate
Emory
NYU
Northwestern
Vanderbilt

LACs:
Amherst
Bates
Bowdoin
Colby
Middlebury
Oberlin
Swarthmore
Vassar
Williams

Adding onto bruno14, within the categories, schools I’d group together are:

(Brown, Dartmouth, Yale, LACs)
(Duke, Cornell, Penn, Princeton)
(Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Wash. U St Louis, Johns Hopkins, U Chicago)

Anything in particular you’re looking for? It would be easier to narrow the list down if you had solid criteria.
