Which one is more important?

Is it the common app or the high school transcript??

More important in what sense?

Like which one of those will college admission officers take a look at more?

I think that’s a little like asking, “Which is more important, your heart or your brain?”

They’re both essential parts of your application.

oh ok, it’s because the common app only asks for the weighted gpa, and thats really high compared to my unweighted gpa on my transcript. So i was wondering if they would just look on the common app.

They will look at your transcript more because that where your grades are. GPA by itself is meaningless.

whhew, thats a relief because my school has the strangest gpa system, which in turn hurts my gpa

I believe the actual HS transcript is the single most important part of the application.

ok thanks, I just wanted to make sure. Oh, and which is more important weighted or unweighted gpa?

It’s very difficult to compare weighted GPAs between schools, everyone knows what an UW 4.0 means, but a weighted 4.2 at one school might equal a weighted 5.3 or whatever at another, so unweighted in that sense. But a class rank based on weighted GPAs is an excellent indicator of where one stands among their peers, so weighted in that sense.

That’s why the actual transcript is the best reflection of an applicant’s HS performance and college preparation.

O ok, that makes sense
