Hey, CC
Im panicing, Im a senior and I still do not yet know which colleges i want to go to.
For my cmmonapp, i have usc, stanford, purdue, cmu, occidental, umich, and a few others. THESE ARE ON MY LIST, IM DEFINITELY NOT APPLYING TO ALL.
However, Theres not one perfect for me. Im not saying it has to, but these are all colleges based on other people’s standards.
I want to be an electrical/computer engineer. I want to stay in California. I prefer a small college. Im guessing tuition isnt such a big factor, since Im low income.
Are there any colleges that fit my description that Im missing?
Im a pretty average/good student.
4.28 gpa, dont know uw
33 ACT
800 math 2 710-something higher physics.
Lots of leadership positions and awards for service.
I ruled out possible candidates, like hmc, but i dont see very many more.
I applied to ucs and cal states, namely cpp and slo.
Besides UCs and CSUs, school in California with engineering bachelor’s degree programs include:
California Baptist University
California Institute of Technology
Harvey Mudd College
Loyola Marymount University
Santa Clara University
Stanford University
University of San Diego
University of Southern California
University of the Pacific
Cost can be a big factor, if the college does not have good financial aid. Use the net price calculator on each school’s web site to get a financial aid estimate.
I would say that the private schools in CA in your range are USC, SCU, and LMU. For UCs, I think you’ll get into UCSD on down, but UCB/UCLA will be reaches. CMU is need blind but does not meet full financial need, while UMich and Purdue will not give adequate financial aid to out-of-state students. Your best bet is probably USC, which is both need blind and guarantees to meet full financial need.
