Which place should one live on campus or near campus in order to see the skyline of Philly?

The high rises (higher floors/sky lounges) have a gorgeous view of the downtown area.

Is that on campus? Where could I find information on these buildings on the net?

All three high rises are on campus. Info on them can be found here:

However, be mindful that not many freshman live in the High Rises. They are mostly occupied by upperclassmen. Most freshman live in the Quad or Hill. From Hill you have virtually no chance of a view of Center City. The only way would be if your room was on the far east side of the building, but even then trees and buildings would block your view. From the quad, there are only a handful of rooms (<10) that have views of Center City. These rooms are located in the Nipple of Fisher. I'm lucky enough to have one of these rooms this year. My view of the skyline is amazing.

If you decide to live in the high rises as a freshman, I'd definitely recommend looking in to the Freshman Experience program in Harrison. I'm in the program right now, and it's a great compromise between apartment-style living and meeting other freshmen. The program gets a lot of money to spend on us, so we get to do all sorts of cool trips (e.g. we all got to go to Centre City for Restaurant Week, and the program covered all expenses) Plus there's 3 floors of almost exclusively freshmen, so it's easy to meet new people. I have friends in Rodin and Harnwell, and they say it's not very social there, it's hard to meet people, fewer freshmen, etc.

If you want the apartment style living, it's a good option, but I would still recommend trying to live in the Quad and if not there then Hill. Nothing can replicate the social experience of living in an all freshman college house.

Wow, thanks for the insightful responses. I will definitely look into the Quad and Hill.

BTW
Which of the three high rises boasts the best view of the city? And do any upperclassmen live in Harrison?

Which high rise is the most popular/best for upperclassmen? Rodin?

the best view of the city, by virtue of being furthest east, is probably in harnwell

all of the highrises are predominantly filled with upperclassmen; none is particularly better than the rest as far as upperclass life.

live in hill...theres a dining hall in th basement... enough said

My friends told me that Hill is a bit noisy

its better than the quad...everthing echos because of the enclosure

Are there wooden benches that lie on Locust Walk? I don't think I remember any when I visited

Yeah there are...wow very detailed..

Live in hill or the quad as a freshman. You can always go study in the high rise rooftop lounges whenever you want a great view of the city skyline.

don't sit on the bench where the ben franklin statue is...just trust me

nineteen.... Why...not..?

People apparently pee on it..

^^ hahahaha
just like people have s e x under the button?
yuck.

yeah, the s e x button lol.

bout king's court, is that nice?

and speaking of hill having a dining hall -- how is the food there, i mean, i'm obviously not expecting culinary perfection (philly is there for that) but like do you not mind the food or is it the most horribly tasting nutrition under the sun?
