Which Prep book is Good for the following situations

I need help deciding which Prep book would be the best for the following college tests.

Prep books: Barron's, The Princeton Review, McGraw-Hill , Kaplan, sparky notes, college board (and others you can think of)

Following Tests:

SAT
SAT 2
ACT
PSAT
CELLA
PERT

SAT-blue book or Barron’s
SAT2-no idea as there are many SAT2’s
ACT-Didn’t take
PSAT-Just study SAT; there’s really no difference.
Last 2, I’ve never heard of.
Overall just study whatever you can find. All of the prep books are about the same and will teach you what you need to know. You can also learn some words from Direct Hits (google it).

Thank you. Does anyone have any advice since it is summer break now. How do I prepare for SAT and ACT. What did you do to get your score.

Don’t use Barron’s for the SAT. It tends to be a lot harder than the actual test.

I like Grockit for the ACT. It’s a cool alternative to sticking with books.

Thanks, anymore hints CC

I like SAT 2400, Direct Hits and number2.com (free online practice site). I teach SAT prep at a high school and have found these the most helpful for kids who are self-motivated.

Try Essential 500 as an alternative to Direct Hits. It had more “hits” than DH did on the June 2013 SAT that I just took

Woah, thank you for the info.

Definitely agree acbyrne,

I’ve seen a lot more misses than hits in DH recently.

Disregard the top 10 comments about SAT’s. Larry Krieger’s “The Essential 500 Words” raised my mark 130 points in Critical Reading alone in a MONTH. Much better than Barron’s or Princeton’s (which I happened to do as well) for the vocabulary part of the SAT.
