Same types of questions. Preparing for the SAT is no different than preparing for a PSAT. If you’re fully prepared for the SAT, you’ll be more than prepared for the PSAT.

The only major difference between the PSAT and the SAT is that the PSAT has no essay. Otherwise, the question types are exactly the same. It’s a waste to invest in a PSAT specific book. Go ahead and get SAT materials and use them for both.

The blue book is absolutely the book of choice for practice questions. It’s from the College Board so there’s nothing more accurate out there. No there aren’t explanations, but most people on this board will tell you not to rely on someone else’s explanation. You’re best off working it out for yourself! You probably will want to supplement with some additional materials, too. The blue book doesn’t say anything about general strategies. There’s tons of strategy books out there - princeton review is pretty good. You’ll also need something for vocabulary. There’s tons of stuff for that out there. CC folks are big advocates of Direct Hits - I personally send my students to word-nerd.com but do whatever seems right for you.
