I am a rising sophomore and I wanted to know what the best books would be for me to study for the psats/ sats over the summer. I don't have a limit on how many books I can buy, I just want to know what the best books are to prepare for these tests. Thanks. Oh, and please include the specific book title.

For actual practice tests:
The blue book (College board official study guide).
Princeton Review 11 Practice Tests for the SAT and PSAT

actual test strategies:
Barron's 2400 is good.
Also, the Underground guide to the SAT is an entertaining choice, really clear and understandable information and funny if not anything else.

Kay thanks that was good advice, but don't they make new Blue books every year? the ones for college board? I would need to buy the most recent one...

Anything by Princeton Review really. Especially the 11 Practice Tests one.

Also I should add that I want to take the PSAT in October,

I like Princeton Review for an overview and the basic stuff to know for the tests, and Barron for the slightly more advanced stuff.

barron's 2400 got me at LEAST 300 points (currently have a 2170, would be 2270 if my MC and essay score from each testing had been combined)...it's THAT good.

don't waste any time on "regular prep books" that will get a person with a 1400-->1700

If you solely want to practice (which is actually REALLY effective)

I wholeheartedly suggest Princeton Review's 11 Practice Tests.

I think the Official study guide from College Board is good too. Do you guy think so ?

Is there only one version Barron's or 2 ?

Okay I bought the Official Study Guide from College Board and I will buy a lot more prep books...

I'm also taking the PSAT in October. (All sophomores take it at my school)
Should the College Board SAT Prep book be ok?

Yeah I am also wondering this because I bought the book. ^^^

I'm going to be taking the PSAT this October, and I got the Kaplan PSAT book (2009 version). It seems to effectively cover all aspects of the test. The best part is the 100 Essential Mat concepts section in the back of the book—excellent for reviewing formulas and such.
