Which Rutgers Campus should I transfer to??

I'm going to be a sophomore at Montclair State University. I have a 3.25 gpa, but am confident I can raise it to atleast 3.4 by the end of this year. I'm a Accounting major and i'm thinking about minoring in Cop=mputer Science. My question is which campus/school should I apply to?

Thanks for the help !

If you want to major in accounting, you might as well transfer to Newark.

If you have completed all of the business school’s requirements then you can go ahead and apply to newark. It is unlikely that you will get accepted into New Brunswick with that GPA

Which is better? I mean for my major…

I believe NB is better since it is harder to gain admission to. Nevertheless both are good business schools for accounting majors.

Thanks, that’s very encouraging. Also, if I may add, I’ve been doing a lot of community service for an organization called “habitat for humanity.” We basically go into areas where people don’t have a lot of money and build houses for people. Also I’m working at a computer shop. Does anyone think this will help my chances? I have a good work ethic and am determined to bring my GPA up. Nevertheless I plan on applying to both colleges. Do I have a shot at NB?

Your Extra curricular activities will help your application but they are NOT the determining factor. I honestly think you have a good shot at Newark. As far as NB, I believe you need a really good gpa in order to stand a chance(my brother and his friend just got admitted to Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick for fall 2011 from a community college. Both have a gpa of over 3.7).
Have you completed the prerequisites? (financial acct, micro & macro econ, calculus, business stats, etc)?

Yes I have

You should apply to both schools and see what happens.

I will…thanks for the help bottlecap. I really appreciate it!

Just an extra piece of info:

I believe you can only transfer into business school in NB in the fall. Not sure about Newark.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info…I had no idea. I’ll try to figure something out.
