Also, the form for the UCs seems to ask for many different SAT IIs (Literature, Science, Math IIc, Language, Social Sciences). The application's sort of ambiguous about the requirements. Does this mean all 5 SAT IIs are required? What if I only have Math IIc, Biology, USH? What should I do? Can this hurt me chances severely? How should I fill out the form?

only TWO Subject tests are required, as long as they are in different disciplines, and exclude Math 1.

re: which test -- tough call, since yes, they will look at the W since the UC's mandated that CB change. OTOH, they also look at the CR....how about a retake in Dec -- you might get lucky.

yeah it's a tough call, i would say that UC's are pretty emphasized with your writing score. As for the SAT II, submit all of them because they are going to see it anyways. More SAT II will not hurt you and it will make you look like a well-around person as oppose to someone who just takes the mininum requirement.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably use the higher total score. I was just concerned since many universities (MIT, for example) aren't counting the W section this year. Anyway, can I still register for the SAT I in december? I think I'm past the deadline.

you can still do it. call collegeboard right now and see what they can do. also go to a school that day to see if there is any room available. it's usually harder for SAT I's, but it's not entirely impossible

So which should i send, considering the fact that I'm applying for engineering (Engineering physics for Berkeley and San Diego), my maths is very important and I'd prefer sending the 800. Anyway, I already got an 800 in Maths IIC. What shoud I send???

They do, but we're trying to find out whether they are considering the writing section. If they aren't, then the score we submit should be the test date with the highest CR/M score. I'm confused...
So UCB suggested the writing section? Also, just for final clarification, they do count the writing section? I'm so confused :-S.

yes, you bet they'll look at the Writing score -- the UC system mandated the change. But, no, the UC's do not allow you to mix and match SAT-1 scores; on your app, you put down the highest score from a single sitting. However, when you send the scores from the most recent test, all scores will be reported.
