I’m interested in majors like chem/biochem/neuroscience and bme/bioengineering (depending on the program- this is actually a kind of tussle going on b/w my parents and me)… I’m interested in being premed too. I’m strong in chem and bio. I have taken calculus classes in math, but maths is most definitely not my strong point. After working really hard, I’m prob average. But most colleges prefer seeing a Maths Level 2 SAT subject test, if I apply to engineering majors. I’m applying to mostly UC campuses btw. So I’m pretty confused. Which tests should I take? I’m really good at chem, but I’ve heard that premeds should take Bio. Also, I’ve heard that its best to take one in math, one in science, and one in humanities- with my interests, is this necessary? I’m good at Literature too. Finally- when a college says that a subject test is recommended, does it really mean that you should give it if u’ve got an interest in the program? Ok, last one- I know I can take 3 subject tests, but atm I just want to take 2. So keeping that in mind, any advice?
OK, not related to my previous question- but considering my interests could anybody give me the best colleges for them? Eg: Johns Hopkins is the best at most of the things I want to do. Any others? Among the Ivy Leagues? I’m interested in Yale and Brown, but they are mostly for humanities, or so I’ve heard. I will be applying to Stanford and Duke, btw.
I’d honestly suggest taking Math 2, Molecular Biology, Chem, and Literature. Some schools, such as MIT, require one math and one science. For the UCs to which you plan to apply, look at their requirements.
No
Recommended means just that. However, at highly selective schools, even if only recommended, you will be competing with applicants who have subject tests.
Then just take 2. Unless a college specifically recommends which tests it requires, it really is your choice which ones you want to take.
There is no premed major, and few colleges admit by major. Again, unless the college specifies which tests are needed, the choice is yours.
Well, most UC colleges say that they recommend Maths Level 2 for engineering, along with a science of my choice. S I was thinking Chem and Maths 2. Just wanted more advice tho
