Which SCEA: Stanford vs Yale

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble deciding which SCEA I should choose: Stanford or Yale?

I guess the factor I'm concerned about the most is the likelihood of acceptance, mainly because both are great schools and I don't really prefer one strongly over the other.

I'm a science guy, if I had to pick one subject, but I'm pretty well-rounded. My ECs: School Newspaper, Speech Team, Scholastic Bowl, A capella group, Piano, Biology Club, National Honor Society, Junior Engineering and Technical Society (JETS), Varsity Tennis, Peer Tutor (I go to a boarding school; this is what it sound like: a program through which i help my peers in specific subject areas)

I have a few leadership positions: President of Acapella group, Section editor of newspaper, and i guess Peer Tutor is kind of a leadership position

Also, I have a few things I did junior year but am not doing senior year: Mu Alpha Theta Officier (though I'm still part of Mu Alpha Theta), Wing Guide (this is a residential leadership position, sort of like a college "RA")

As for awards,

United States of America Biology Olympiad (USABO): Semifinalist
University of Toronto National Biology Competition: 29th Place, National Biology Scholar with Distinction

I'm going to be doing research over the summer and hope to get at least regional semifinalist in the Siemens-Westinghouse competition.

As for community service, I volunteer at a hospital over the summer and I'm organizing concerts at various retirement homes.

I go to the Illinois Math and Science Academy, btw.

Since I'm kind of science oriented, I feel like I'd have a better chance at Stanford, but I feel like the music tilts the balance towards Yale.

Personality-wise I'm not really sure; if you could give me some information about both, that'd help me decide.

I know that's a lot to read, but if you could help me figure out which one I'd have a better chance at, I'd really appreciate it.

Just note that there are now four SCEA schools as Princeton and Harvard have joined Stanford and Yale.

You could choose any of them and have about the same chance of admission, which, if you have very high grades with many APs and honors, and very high test scores, gives you about a 12% chance of admission to any one of them (which is about as high as it gets for anyone).

Since the mechanism (SCEA) isn’t an issue, may I suggest you go to both the Yale and Stanford sub fora? There are several threads on each site discussing the diff btn Yale and Stanford.

My thoughts are there as well (I’m a Yale grad but dated (and visited often) my GF at Stanford)

Haha drusba, ya I know, but I assumed everyone would be rushing to apply to HP. Plus, I don’t really like harvard and princeton has grade deflation xp.
