I've finally decided to apply as ancient art history, not classics and my ancient art prof recommended number of schools including U Penn and Brown. The thing is, I don't know if I want to apply to both these. Which ones are easier to get in? My gpa is moderate 3.55; I'm on intermediate levels of greek and latin, advanced for French, took a quarter of Italian (level 4 which is equivalent to 1 year), and a pretty low gre (590/570/4.0). My main strength, I hope, will be the essay sample on Parthenon frieze.

Should I retake the gre? The reason for it being so low is that I took it this fall with no preparation, plus taking my record 6 classes.

Other schools I'll apply to is UC Santa Barbara and UCI (this school's classicist is on leave, so I can't apply under ancient art. Should i apply under classics or history?)
