Rice has like 3 different supplement essays and they are like 3000 words each. God, i hate writing essays.

Not really. It's 3000 CHARACTERS. That's the number of letters (a,b,c,d,e,f,g...) that you can type. :)

Having more essays is better--it gives you more space to show the colleges who you are.

Where did you find Rice's supplement? I haven't seen it on commonapp...

^I agree with Kyledavid. If a college's supplement has an abundance of essays, this usually means that that particular institution weighs in on personal qualities/creativity/etc very heavily. This is good for applicants, because it takes the attention away from SATs, GPA, etc which tend to cause people to freak out.

Schools that feel they are backup schools for applicants have the worst supplements. By having long supplements would weed out non-serious applicants.

I dislike Stanford's, personally. It's really long and most of the questions seem pretty bland. Oh well, I still love the school, so I'll just struggle through, heh.

what are the questions like?^

Yeah, i guess the Rice essays arent so bad. It's just that i dislike writing, lol.

Click on the "supplement" link in the Common App under Rice. It should be there.

Am I in the wrong spot?

I liked Stanford's the most. Harvard's made me think, "Why have a supplement at all?" Yale's was bland as well. Princeton's was a bit better.

Stanford's main three essays are "write a letter to your future roommate," why Stanford, and one on intellectual vitality. Some of the short answers ask you about historical events you wish you could've witnessed or your influences. It's not an easy supplement. I liked the challenge. In fact, I think that it was Stanford's supplement that made all my answers to other college supplements better.

phade- I dont know how you got there, but did you create an account yet? If so then add Rice to your list of colleges, then you can select "Supplement" under Rice.

Ah... I will do so and report back.
Edit: Yeah there it is. Pretty annoying I've been waiting for this so I could try and get it done before school... I finally find it on the night before first day.
