which school should i choose?

I narrowed it down to Boston College, Holy Cross, Providence, and Stonehill.

Which school should I go to? HELP!

If you like Basketball. Holy Cross has a long storied tradition in Division 1 college basketball and a fantastic coach in Ralph Willard. The academics at Holy Cross have always been superior to the other colleges named although BC has narrowed the gap in the past 20 years. The Princeton Review gives HC's academics a 98 rating and BC an 88, Stonehill an 86 and Providence an 80., Check out this blog by the HC Coach: Ralph Willard -- Official Website -- College of the Holy Cross

Another item to look at is alumni giving rates. This is a concrete way to measure satisfaction with the school.

Holy Cross alumni give 55%: Stories of Support | College of the Holy Cross

BC alumni give 25%: Boston College Blog: The "New" Boston College

Stonehill: Average alumni giving rate: 22% Stonehill College, National Survey Highlights Stonehill Student Satisfaction & College Ranked Among Best National Liberal Arts Colleges

Providence: 32% average alumni giving rate: Best Universities - Master's (By Region) - US News and World Report

What are you looking for in a college? Holy Cross and Providence are going to provide you with an entirely different experience than Boston College. What are some of the factors most important to you in making the decision?

It really depends at what you are looking at a college. Most will argue that Boston College's overall academics are slightly better than HC, but you have to realize that one is a university and one is a LAC, so things are completely different. HC's pre-med program is generally better than BC, but overall, these two are generally not rivaled by Providence/Stonehill.

I am not sure I agree that most would argue BC having better academics than HC - Actually, I think it is the opposite. There may be other reasons to attend BC - Sports, Drinking, Boston, etc... But academic superiority is not a valid reason.

The 2009 Princeton Review rates BC's academics at 88 and HC at 98. These are based on surveys filled out by students at the respective schools.

Oh-Oh, it's the BC vs HC better academic school argument. In short the BC folks say they long ago passed HC and the HC folks say they have always been better academically.

I hope both agree that students of each school receive a great education. So what this comes down to is what you are looking for in a school. Size of the school, location, what you intend to study, resources and feel. Good luck with your decision.
