You may want to add a few more LACs to your list, especially those with astronomical observatories and relatively dark and natural night skies, such as Williams, Vassar, Haverford and Hamilton.

Thanks for the suggestions but do they offer financial aid , because I ,simply, cant afford american colleges. And are there some colleges I might be likely to get in

All of the colleges suggested above (including Wesleyan) meet the full, demonstrated financial need of all accepted applicants, irrespective of national origin.

What about my chances to get in ? Also I really dont want to be in pure science rather I would prefer engineering college if I ever want to pursue engineering

And which school should I ED , I think I really like

  1. Cornell
  2. Brown
  3. Amherst

Well, it seems you should eliminate Amherst if you might want to pursue engineering on the undergraduate level.

Consider adding Swarthmore.

Thanks a lot for the info , definitely will consider it . what about my chances of getting in those colleges
What about
Brown
Cornell
Swarthmore
And those you mentioned

Before an estimation can be made of your chances, it seems it would be beneficial for you to do more research on your potential choices. For example, would you apply to CAS or COE at Cornell? Distinctions such as this will not only affect your chances, they will further your development of the best course of study for you in general.

Cornell seems to be the best fit. Former home of Carl Sagan and a great astrophysics program. Only problem is that it is very selective. Take a look at the Tata scholarship at Cornell.

Except for Amherst, the schools listed are need aware for admissions for international students. This means that your financial need will be considered when your application for admission is reviewed. Just an FYI.

You have a strong application but so do many many others from your region of the world. The acceptance rates are in the single digits for you.

I think you need to cast a broader net than just reach schools.

Yeah that’s for sure
I think some schools that might act as safety :
Nyu
iisc(banglore) if kvpy cleared
Vanderbilt
What do you think about these , anyone you would recommend ??

Thanks for helping and replying bro
I just researched CAS and COE
I think CAS is perfect for me
If I ED , what will be my chances
Do ntse , jstse , kvpy ,nsea help
My fiitjee sir told that ntse is in very high regard among foreign colleges and same for kvpy scholar , inao qualifier

NYU and Vandy are reaches.

For an international requiring financial aid there are really no safeties in the US (many less selective schools will not meet your full need). For match schools, you should be looking at those with acceptance rates at 50% and higher.

What is your budget for college per year?

Thoughts @MYOS1634?

Nah man , this quote totally sank my heart , dont consider significant budget
what now , you have thrown me into peril now bear the responsibility to take me out of it
suggest what you thinks is best ??

The issue is, you are an excellent candidate, but the schools which meet full financial need for internationals tend to be difficult to get into – reaches.

Definitely still research them and compile a list of favorites based on your priorities, and apply to them. You never know – the only way to have a 0% chance is if you don’t apply. You are an impressive applicant, and you may find a home at one of them.

But also research less selective schools that offer strong aid to internationals. I’d say, private schools ranked, oh, 21st and lower among LACS (check the majors they offer to ensure compatibility), and about 35th and lower among universities, in the US News rankings. As selectivity decreases, your chances arbitrarily increase. The trick is to find some that also offer great financial aid to internationals, or that offer scholarships for which you would qualify.

You are a very strong candidate. Needing financial aid makes all schools on your list a reach. Agree with the suggestion to cast a wider net. This article may be helpful. Top Colleges That Are Generous To International Students

Continuing the discussion from Which school should I ED?:

hey guys thanks for the suggestions. i have a big question : are SAT SUBJECT TESTS REQUIRED IF APPLYING TO COLLEGES LIKE IVIES ? SHOULD I GIVE THEM, IS MY ACT ENOUGH (36) OR NOT ?

SAT subject tests have been discontinued. A 36 ACT is as high as you can get, so yes it’s enough.

The problem for you is that there are just too many students from your part of the world all trying to get in the same slots. You are very qualified. So are many others. All you can do is apply and see what happens. But make sure you have a backup plan in your own country in case this doesn’t work out.
