Which School Should I go to? (List)

Which schools would be your #1 #2 and #3 of my list
Random Order

  • University of Georgia
  • University of Florida
  • Indiana University
  • Clemson University
  • Wake Forest University
  • Miami University of Ohio
  • Virginia Tech
  • Southern Methodist University (SMU)
  • Baylor University
  • Texas Christian University (TCU)

Without spilling your social, urban/rural, major, and financial preferences and constraints, any answer you get here is going to be random.

OTOH, they’re all solid choices and you ought to be able to eek out a reasonably happy and satisfying life and career from any of these.

Isn’t this kind of pointless until you actually get accepted?

Also there are so many variables in choosing schools. Major, financial aid, location, personal fit, etc.

See where you get in, see what is affordable and then it will be time to decide.

Wake, Clemson, Florida IMO, although wake is the only school I’ve really looked into

What are you interested in studying? Any financial constraints? Any regional preference?

It looks like a great list for business and in any case very coherent with strong schools and a range of admission prospects, in general. I’m a big fan of Wake. I think the leadership team is strong, and the school is as dynamic and innovative as pretty much any other out there. IU is great for business, SMU too. Miami of Ohio offers great merit aid if you have a 3.5 and high test scores. Georgia and Florida are strong flagships. Clemson is very hot these days. Good luck!

Thankfully finance is not a big issue. Obviously and financial aid would sway my opinion but it looks like I will be able to afford these schools.

Yes, I am interested in studying business and all of these schools have a good business program. (mostly)
and when it comes to variables - location, financial aid and others are not as big a factor as the reputation of the school.

Mostly I am just looking for peoples opinions of these schools in general! Not necessarily what school I should go to but which schools pop out to them the most.

the more opinions you have the better!

For business I’d say Indiana’s Kelley School of Business jumps out to me.
But in general I’d wait and see which schools give you a direct admit to the b-school and take it from there.

So, are you saying that your parents have said that they will pay $45k-65k per year for these schools?

UF, VaTech, Clemson

  1. University of Florida
  2. Virginia Tech - Pamplin College of Business
  3. Clemson

@SouthFloridaMom9 - great south Florida minds think exactly alike!

For me personally, most of them pop out just because of name recognition. You will have to explore the options and look at the campus, student life, etc. Wake Forest, IU Bloomington, and Clemson pops up as one of the big business ones. You might want to look at Richmond and W&M for great business schools to add to your list. SMU is good for econ/finance/accounting; not specifically BA. TCU is the one that’s my eh outlier; the other ones are all great IMO. All of these great big ones, like VT, UG, and UF, are all great, but I’d prefer something that focuses on business. Still, they are all undeniably great.

Good luck and hope you figure out which ones are the best for you.

Richmond and W&M would be great if I could get into them!
Also something i’ve realized is people’s respect for Virginia Tech varying so much. Where I am from it is extremely well respected, but other areas of the country think otherwise.

@RightyRiper Yeah. In my area, people generally have an extremely high regard for VTech (especially older adults; I’ve seen some place it above Vanderbilt, as Vandy is usually considered eh 'round these parts). Online, I’ve seen people consider VTech as deteriorating in quality for some reason, having fallen from greatness into overratedness. I’ve seen a lot of good stuff about it, so I’m not quick to draw opinions.

BTW: I noted Richmond and W&M because they were very similar to Wake Forest both in vibe, focus, and competitiveness; if you can get into Wake Forest, you’re at least competitive for get into the other two (they may be a bit more difficult at best).

All of the reasons noted, plus what’s realizable based on your academic profile.
