Which school would u attend? BU or Rutgers?

i got into both BU School of Management and Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ. Right now I’m having a tough time deciding between the two so I thought I’d look to my fellow CCers for their always valued opinion. here are some things i’ve noted about each.

BU
pretty good business program, well-known
in the city
outside of stinkin new jersey (obviously)
cost–44k a year with no aid/scholarships

Rutgers (in-state for me)
Recognized business program
Located in New Brunswick
Value school
16k a year

the question remains which one is worth it? is it worth getting into all that debt with BU and will i be able to get a good job after graduating to pay it all of? or should i stick with Rutgers, a not so prestigious, but decent low-cost college? please reply. i value ur opinion.

Contrary to what you may think, Rutgers is far from simply being decent. It is one of the best public schools in the northeast and is well known and well respected. I'm sure you will be able to get a very good job having graduated from a school as good as Rutgers. The money also seems like Rutgers wins by a large margin. Personally, I will be attending BU due to the 10,000 a year award they gave me but I don't see how it would have been possible to go if they haden't given me anything. I love BU but I wouldn't underestimate the quality of Rutgers. I know it may seem like the school stinks on account of its right in our backyard (we're both Jersey kids) but it is really a quality place where you will get a great education.

hmm makes sense. guess its just the fact that amost everyone from my hs goes to rutgers. yea i definetly wish i got sum money from BU. but i guess rutgers is pretty good. thanks for the input devilsrule..it definetly helps

Having seen the inside of the new BU School of Management main building its hard to turn that down. What an incredible setting!!! I agree that Rutgers is a much better school than many realize especially for research opportunites. With J&J around the corner and NYC and Phila. nearby its location isn't too shabby. Still, there is something to be said from getting away and not having your college experience be an extention of HS. Plus how can you compare NB to Boston, the best college town in the U.S. ???? Hard choice, good luck.
