Which schools accept IELTS? Where is the newest list? There are multiple lists on the web and I just don't know which one to pick. If I take IELTS then I don't have to take TOEFl, correct?

I donno which schools accept IELTS but I answer your another question: yes, you don’t need to take TOEFL once you take IELTS-it’s interchangable

I am really confused with school policies about IELTS since the school websites are generally very vague.

Can you please give me am example? Because I don’t think that school websites would be vague about this. They should clearly state that they accept IELTS and, sometimes, state the minimum scores.

Here is the list of colleges accepting IELTS. I have no idea how new this list is so it would be good if you look further in schools’ websites.

Normally, if a school lists on its website that it requires and accepts TOEFL, they accept IELTS as well. But if I were you, I’d confirm it with them.

As an int’l student, I took IELTS instead of TOEFL. All my schools so far have accepted it.

You need to look at each college and university website to find out which English exams they accept. if you can’t find information on the website, you need to contact the international admissions office directly.

Good luck!

happymomo, I think you mean happysunnyshine (OP) not me.

I can find no information about IELTS on Princeton’s and William’s websites. On Princeton’s website, it says that it accepts TOEFL, but it doesn’t say that it doesn’t accept IELTS. Is it then implied that applicants can only take TOEFL?

Whoops, jellyya! Sorry!

Happysunnyshine,

If the website does not specify that the institution accepts IELTS, then you need to contact the international admissions office directly to find out if it would be possible in your case. TOEFL and IELTS both are English exams, but they are quite different. Colleges and universities that specifically require TOEFL do so because they believe it is a better test of skills that they are looking for.
