My son is accepted to ASU, TAMU and Alabama. Anyone get a full ride to either if these schools as a NMF?
Arizona State: https://scholarships.asu.edu/scholarship/1729
Arizona State University is committed to helping a greater number of academically qualified students graduate than ever. Our New American University Scholar awards are offered to outstanding freshmen as they pursue academic excellence at ASU. This program provides qualified students a monetary award and an environment focusing on knowledge, learning and research plus resources toward understanding and helping solve society’s most pressing challenges.
Amount: Varies
Texas A&M: https://scholarships.tamu.edu/Scholarship-Programs/National-Scholars#0-NationalMerit®Opportunities
National Merit Finalists who select Texas A&M University as their first choice institution are guaranteed to be offered the awards listed in the table below. The scholarships listed below will be in addition to any other scholarships from our department, individual colleges or departments at Texas A&M, or from other outside donors. For out-of-state students, the value of the scholarship package could approach $100,000 due to the out-of-state tuition waiver, worth approximately $16,500 per year.
Alabama: http://scholarships.ua.edu/nationalscholars/
Value of tuition for up to five years or 10 semesters for degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate (or law) studies. One year of on-campus housing at regular room rate* (based on assignment by Housing and Residential Communities). A $3,500 per year Merit Scholarship stipend for four years. A student must maintain at least a 3.3 GPA to continue receiving this scholarship stipend. If a corporate-sponsored scholarship from the National Merit Corporation is received, the total value cannot exceed $3,500. (For example, if you receive a corporate-sponsored scholarship of $2,000 per year, UA will contribute $1,500 per year to reach the total stipend amount of $3,500.) One-time allowance of $2,000 for use in summer research or international study (after completing one year of study at UA). Technology enrichment
Google is your best friend.
A lot of these are competitive (non-automatic) or required early/extra applications. Check with your son to see if he met the deadlines.
@wyonurse16 what is your son’s major?
@mom2collegekids as of right now Engineering.
@wyonurse16
If your son is an eng’g or CS major, then he gets an add’l 2500 per year ON TOP of the big NMF award from Bama.
Were you aware of this?
Did he list eng’g on his app for Bama? If not, it’s not too late to change it…change it in MyBama online.
Another couple of schools to consider for full ride and engineering are Texas Tech University and UT Dallas. Tech advertises absolute full ride for 4 years including transportation costs getting there. UT Dallas will give you tuition, fees, books for 4 years and $11,000/yr for living while on campus and $8000 for off campus living. They do have apartments on campus and it is very unusual to get $$ for off campus living. They also offer $6000 for study abroad. I know UT Dallas is still accepting applications and I have not looked at Tech’s schedule.
