Which schools are you supposed to withdraw your application from after being accepted ED?

I was just accepted ED to BU and am in the process of withdrawing my other applications. I know I’m definitely supposed to withdraw my application from schools I have already applied to, but there are a few other schools that have some of my credentials (transcripts and SAT/ACT scores) that I haven’t officially applied to. Should I contact those schools too? I’ve been receiving emails from some of them, but idk if those will stop once the application deadline has passed. Should I still contact them? If so, what should I say? Like am I still “withdrawing my application” even if I haven’t officially applied yet?

If you have not applied to said schools then you don’t have to do anything as you have not applied and thus have no decision to accept or decline. As long as you have withdrawn all applications officially submitted you should be fine.

you signed an agreement, so yes you have to withdraw from other colleges

@SvFalcons74 is correct that you don’t have to act on any schools to which you haven’t actually applied. Sending scores isn’t tantamount to an application and nothing has to be “withdrawn” if you haven’t sent an application yet. Congrats, by the way!

Make sure you can afford the FA offer before withdrawing

@marvin100 thanks :slight_smile:

And @“Erin’s Dad” I don’t qualify for FA so that’s not an issue

For others who may look at this thread later, not qualifying for aid does not necessarily mean a family can afford to pay $60K/year. Students should check to see if the costs are manageable.

Many people that don’t apply for FA because they believe they don’t qualify actually do.
