UCLA over Michigan was not a no-brainer for me. UM would have been a different, unique experience since it would have been OOS. Also, UM actually has a business program while UCLA does not...and generally looks slightly better on paper (kinda like Cal).

But I still chose UCLA. I was so excited that I was accepted. :D

Already received acceptance letter from Harvard, Princeton, CAL-Berkeley, Stanford, Cornell and Michigan. I'm deciding which between CAL-Berkeley and UCLA. Currently, it's 60-40 in favor to CAL-Berkeley. But it's too early to tell. I still have a few more months to decide.

^ What happened to Cornell, Stanford, Princeton, and Havard? Those are above Cal and UCLA.

Huh? From where I come from, only Harvard is "above" CAL-Berkeley. Seriously, I don't think Cornell, Stanford and Princeton are any better than CAL-Berkeley reputation-wise or resources-wise. I understand Princeton is very popular in the USA but when you go outside the country, its appeal declines. Stanford is a great school too but its NOT my "cup of tea". I only applied there just in case I won't make it to Berkeley; at least I have a good fallback school. Besides, I am going to major Physics and I do not believe there's any better place else to do it than at CAL-Berkeley. UCLA appeals to me because I love L.A. and UCLA is the best choice there. As for Harvard, its the best university on earth but not for Physics. And I love the sunny California more than the cold Boston area. But like I said, I still have a few more time to decide. And right now, its really a toss up between CAL-Berkeley and UCLA with more weight on CAL's side. Cheers!

I am happy with my choice of UCLA over UM, but I did have some regrets at not being a Wolverine. It would be a new experience for a Californian and I loved the campus, students I met and their programs. Maybe for grad school?

Personally it was a matter of finance, plus they didn't really have the major I wanted at the time (which I'm thinking of dropping... bah!)... was a bit worried about elitism. Loved Columbia and Stanford to death, but Mom & Dad couldn't swallow paying 45k out of pocket.
