<p>I know PwC recruits people from Binghamton... or so Bing says on one of their brochures. What about other SUNYs? I was thinking of transfering to Geneseo, anyone know about them?</p>

<p>They recruit from many schools including the SUNYs and CUNYs. However, if you really want to work for a big 4 firm, you will need at least a 3.4 GPA overall and 3.5++ in your major. In fact, you should have a 3.5 overall too. If you meet these criteria, you should have little problem geting a job with one of the big firms.</p>

<p>I used to recruit and interview for Deloitte Touche. What I posted was what was required 30 years ago. Maybe things have changed.</p>
<p>I think it is still accurate with modest adjustments for some top schools.</p>
<p>My buddy was hired at Deloitte Touche with a 3.0 GPA from a tier 3 school, right out of university with no co-op or experience with accounting, and absolutely no connections.</p>
<p>So if one has a 3.5+ in overall GPA, plus a 3.75+ GPA in Accounting courses, they can be almost certain of a big 4 interview? That seems rather cut and dry.</p>
<p>Maybe so, however, my buddy was involved with EC sports in school and out of school. He was also very personable and outgoing. I also new another guy that applied to the same firm that had a 3.6 GPA, community service, and co-op experience in a firm (PWC) and did not get the job. </p>
<p>According to my buddy, there seems to be a certain type of personality accounting firms look for.</p>
<p>The 3.5 overall GPA will get you the interview. However, other factors might or might not get you the job such as: how well your interview goes, how well the interviewing partners like you. At the national firms, prospective applicants meet other staff members who send in their evaluations of the candidate.</p>

<p>Right now my GPA is 3.89 as a freshmen, hopefully 4.0 this semester at a CC (think it will be, depends on finals) and can hopefully keep that up next semester too. </p>
<p>So my GPA will be good there, I'll then spend probably 2.5 years whereever I go and hopefully get a 3.5+, I know that I really want one... and in accounting I'd hope it'd be the same (probably would be, considering most of my classes will be accounting stuff).</p>
<p>Anyway, so the actual school, say Geneseo vs. Binghamton won't matter? I think they are relatively viewed the same among SUNYs rankwise... but how does the recruiter thing work? Do you ask for an interview or do they ask you about it? And if it's true that Bing has PWC recruiters and say Geneseo doesn't, does that mean for Geneseo I'd have to be going more out of my way or would I be less likely to get the job? </p>

<p>And also, it's a toss-up for me between these schools, just because Geneseo has 3 credit courses and X credits and bing 4 credit courses and about the same credits needed. It's much easier to take 4 classes every semester (even if they are more intense, it's better to focus harder on less things) than taking 5-6 every semester to get the same stuff.</p>
<p>PLUS, I'm really interested in finance (high lvl math stuff) too and they don't have those courses or that major at Geneseo. :( However, they do have a philosophy minor I'd do instead and some interesting english courses I'd enjoy. </p>
<p>Bleh, dunno what to do. </p>
<p>And I haven't been accepted or anything, but I am a good student and hopefully my chances coming from a SUNY CC will make me a good candidate. If not, I'm gonna apply to either Buffalo or Albany also and hope to get into one of those slightly lesser schools.</p>

<p>CollegeKid keep your GPA up and don't stress. With a 4.0 you can choose any SUNY you want.</p>

<p>Also, I'm pretty outgoing and have good interviewing skills, so I would hopefully do alright with that, not the super nervous, can't speak type.</p>
<p>And also, the CPA is important as well, that test will be hard, or so I here. Anyway, thanks for replies, I think I'll just try going whichever I feel I'll have a better time at and keep my grades up at, doubt it'll help me if I go to Bing over Gen, if I have a good GPA from either I'm assuming I can land an interview and have a shot regardless. So that's what I should be worrying about I guess, and not now even, that's for 2-3 years down the road.</p>
