I’m a GA resident and I am wondering which school gives out the most all-around aid money for out-of-state students between the University of Alabama, University of Tennessee, Auburn University, Louisiana State University. I plan to do either Engineering or Business and I am a minority student.
You’d have to research each school to try to identify an all-around number (maybe start with the Common Data Set for each). I’m not sure it really matters who gives out the most if you’re trying to find the best package for yourself. Go to each school’s scholarship page and read the criteria for awarding merit money. In Bama’s case, this is what the criteria was for this past year. We won’t know next year’s criteria until July or thereabouts. Plan on an extra $2500 a year for engineering if you qualify for one of their general freshman scholarships.

Can you travel? Take a look at Clarkson. They give great financial aid /merit packages. It’s cold up there, but might be worth it.
There are two components to aid, one is college’s endowment size and the other is your demonstrated need. More wealthy colleges are the best bets for middle class as their aid programs are generous.
Alabama is the most generous out of those schools to OOS students. Their merit is automatic. You can look it up to see how much you’d get.
It’s not a one shot deal to get money unless you meet auto merit parameters. You have to check that info every admissions cycle because things change. We can’t tell you right now what things will be this year.
Also, it really doesn’t matter which school offers the most money. It’s what schools offer YOU that counts. Unless you go for auto merit full ride, you give your self the best chance of getting the most money, by casting s wide net. You apply to both schools and then some, and see what come s up with the best offer
