I have taken both the SAT and the ACT and was wondering which score I should send to colleges if I am only sending scores from one test.

On the SAT:
650 CR
790 M
710 W 10 Essay
New-2150 Old-1440

On the ACT:
33 Composite
6 Essay

I was just wondering if the much lower essay score on my ACT would make that score appear worse in comparison to my SAT score?

check out this table from College Board:

According to this table, you scores are fairly comprable. I would send the SAT score if you must choose between the two. The SAT is generally considered more difficult and your writing score is significantly better. I would be interested in what other posters think about this question, as this is just my humble opinion!

thanks for the help

Not true. Some students do better on the SAT, some do better on the ACT. About the same number take each test annually. Every college now accepts both, so you should submit your best score on either test.

I’d say your SAT Math score looks very strong, but your SAT CR score not so strong for the most selective colleges. Your ACT composite is pretty comparable to your SAT CR+M, but I guess I’d want to know your ACT subscores. If they’re more evenly balanced than your SAT scores (which are quite unbalanced), I’d urge you to consider submitting both SAT and ACT.

Send the SAT. It’s considerably better. Plus your essay is better. Good job on both, though.
