Okay, so I have taken the ACT once and the SAT twice and here are my stats:

ACT
Science: 35
English:34
Math:29
Reading:28
Composite: 32

SAT: CR 640 M 690 W 650, 1980
CR 660 M 630 W 800, 2090
Superscore: 2150

So a composite of 32 translates to ~1430 CR+M according to websites I've found, and I'm wondering if I should even bother sending my SAT scores. Also I'm fairly confident I can raise the 32 to a 33 if I retake the ACT once or twice. My question, should I even bother sending my SAT scores due to the weak CR+M? (1350)

My dilemma is that I still need to take SAT IIs, which I will most likely take in October and I will also retake the ACT in September or October, maybe both. This leaves November for SAT Is again, but I plan on applying to Johns Hopkins for Biomedical Engineering early decision, and I'm not sure if the scores will get there for the early decision deadline, along with other early action deadlines. Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, I have taken no physics classes and have not taken AP Bio or AP Chem, so I am not confident about taking any of those SAT IIs. Will colleges be turned off if I submit Math I/II as a subject test along with literature, spanish or history? I'm worried because I know some engineering programs want to see SAT IIs in the sciences. Would it be worth it to self study?

I'm interested in Biomedical Engineering and Pre-med if that matters.

Any advice is appreciated! I apologize for the extremely long post. :)

Your scores are good and consistent so I wouldn’t recommend retaking them. It wouldn’t hurt to send both scores, but I agree your ACT is better if you want to save some money and just sent that (unless they require all).

Look closely at what each school wants for SAT II. JH, for example, recommends Math II if you are engineering. Tech schools will also spell out what they expect for math or physics. Other than that, take what you think you will do best in and play to your strengths.

BUMP! I’m doing more research now and any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

I understand how you feel right now. You should aim for a perfect score even if you don’t get it because your score will probably improve faster. I think you should take math II and physics. I haven’t taken a physics class yet either, but self studying sounds fairly easy if you’re good at math. Just practice a lot for both subject tests and you should be able to do well. Sorry, I’m not much help. Good luck. (:

Thanks for the advice guys, but I still need to know if my scores will arrive on time for early decision if I take the tests in October or later?

The answer to your question (latest possible SAT and SAT II test date) for ED is “it depends on the college”. Check the admissions web site for the answer. I picked a college at random – specifically University of Pennsylvania). See:

Latest SAT and SAT Subject test date deadlines is November for UPenn.

Oh okay thanks, I guess I didn’t look hard enough haha! Guess I’ve got a little bit more research to do!!!
