Which should I retake: SAT or SAT II?

Don't worry, this isn't a chance thread.

My SAT score is 2340: 800 V 740 M 800 W
My SAT subject scores are: 770 Lit 760 US 740 Math II

My question is, which should I retake: the SAT to raise math or SAT subject test to raise math II? I'm now a senior, and I'm looking to apply to top schools like Penn, Yale, Columbia, Northwestern, etc.

I'm not at all disappointed in my two 740s. But I have one more testing date at my disposal, and my school encourages me to take advantage of that.

So which is more important to raise: SAT or third SAT subject test?

Thanks!

I would, personally, retake whatever test I feel I could improve more in. If it is more difficult for you to concentrate on math when grouped with other subjects (like the SAT I), take the SAT II. If not, try to raise your SAT I score.

Thanks. I’d rather not take any, haha. But I’d regret it if that’s what were to keep me from being accepted to a school.

Honestly, I think these are all remarkable scores that will stand strong on their own. I think at a certain point people see little difference between a 2340 and a 2400. Unless you feel very confident you will keep your 800s in CR and W, I wouldn’t bother taking the SAT again. If you feel very strongly that you can and would like to raise your math score than it’s worth a try. Otherwise, I would re-take the SAT II in Math, but only if you want to. Good Luck!

Thanks! Great advice, college! I don’t think I’d be able to keep my 800 in CR–kind of a one-time thing. Anyhow, if my college counselor does require me to sit through another testing, I will probably opt for Math II.
