Which Spanish level should I take:Pre-AICE or honors

So in my school for next year, there are two Spanish levels. There are Spanish 3 Honors and Spanish 3 Pre-AICE. Which one should I choose:

This is my current schedule:
Algebra 2 Competition(Honors credit)
Spanish 2 Regular(Spanish 1 and 2 in our school is only regular)
AP Computer Science Principles
AICE General Papers AS
Study Hall 1
Debate 1 Honors
Chemistry Honors
World History Honors

This is my sophomore schedule:
Precalculus Competition(It is basically Precalculus Honors and AP Statistics but in one class)
Spanish 3(I do not know if I should take Honors or Pre-AICE)
AICE English Language AS
AP Physics 1(I am skipping honors and doing just AP Physics)
APUSH(might lighten the load for the junior year if I take it now)
AICE Global Perspectives
AICE Thinking skills 1
Study Hall 2

This is my junior schedule:
AP Calculus BC(I have heard that it is basically Calculus AB)
AP Physics C
AP Spanish or AICE Spanish(what do you think is better preparation for either of these classes in sophomore year)
AICE English Language A(or might just take AP Lang)
AP European History(or I might just take an AICE course on European history only because AICE is college credit and is also easier than AP).
Study Hall 3
AP Computer Science A
Astronomy Solar/Galactic(Honors- only because I do not want to make it too rigorous with another AP science.)

I will do AP Biology or AP Chemistry senior year. Probably will just take AP Chemistry though.

Our school is basically a block schedule with 8 classes(4 classes one day and 4 classes another day) one of which is just a study hall.
Each class is 1.5 hours.

The foreign language progression-Spanish 1(took this in middle school and also they only offer regular.), Spanish 2(they only offer regular), Spanish 3(Honors or Pre-AICE), Spanish 4(or AP Spanish or AICE Spanish).

It literally makes no difference assuming your school weights them the same.

“AICE is college credit and is also easier than AP).”

Except for any college with which your HS has an articulation agreement, AICE will most likely not get you college credit without acing the A-Level exam.

It says that Ivy League colleges accept AICE credit AS or A level.

AFAIK, no Ivy League college gives credit for AS. Many Ivy League colleges give no credit for any pre-matriculation course. The few Ivy league colleges that give credit, will only do so with an appropriate score (usually A or A*) on the A-Level exam, which is what I said.

It would still look good on college applications for admission purposes provided everything else is perfect.

Which sequence is actually more advanced in terms of how much Spanish you will learn? (The Spanish teachers at your school should be able to tell you.)

Once you know that answer, you should be able to make an informed choice about which one to choose (i.e. the harder or easier one, based on your interest in Spanish and the overall difficulty of the rest of your schedule for you).

Here is a document from a college Spanish department with placement recommendations for AICE and AP scores: https://spanishandportuguese.ufl.edu/files/2018-Spanish-Placement-Score-Charts.pdf

I would choose based on:

  1. How much are you into spanish? Are you planning to continue in the future?
  2. Are colleges you are targeting require a foreign language in college?
  3. Can you get credit?

If you aren’t really into Spanish and are targeting schools where you won’t need to take further spanish and you want to “take it easy” in Spanish, then take the easier one.

If you want to go further in spanish and will need to take it in college, take the more rigorous one.

Well, I want to complete the foreign language requirement for colleges so I can get into top colleges.

Either path accomplishes this.
