My daughter has been accepted to few intensive. How do I know which is best? Please help! The avg cost for program and boarding is 3-5K, so obviously good to know which is best
Broadway theater project?
Broadway artist alliance?
AMDA?
FSU (which I think may be the best but most competitive)
ArtsBridge
any other suggestions?
All very different. Depends on what your daughter wants to focus on. And yes. It is a lot of money!
College Prep, she is a sophomore. I want to ensure she is going to a program where she will be with real braodway alumni or theater faculty so the 4K will get the best bang for buck. Ive also heard of Broadway artist alliance and camp broadway
If she wants to meet several faculty from different programs I would not recommend a single college campus. Just my opinion. But TPAP Is not as much about college prep but artistic collaboration. Broadway Dreams is all broadway professionals and it comes together with a show if she cares about that. They have a city with college reps from 10 programs give feedback. But she could wait another year to do that. Also Moonifieds Junior in the fall., not summer. BAA is excellent from what I hear.might be perfect
Consider Actor Therapy College Prep.

My college D did their winter intensive for adults and it was amazing. This looks like similar curriculum but geared toward younger students (15-19 yrs) with emphasis on college (vs professional) auditions. Daily dance, acting, and master classes with different broadway actors. Daily class about applying to college. Bonus is excellent mentoring with Lindsey Mendez and RSO for audition feedback, acting through song and building their book. They also include terrific headshots, 2 individual voice lessons, tickets to broadway show, industry showcase and end of session performance for family friends. My D said it felt like conservatory training since they worked hard 9-5 every day. It was very well run. Scholarship deadline approaching so check it out.
Just noticed that students aged 18-19 yrs can also enroll in the adult version for a total of 4 weeks (both tuitions apply). Would be fabulous for someone taking a gap year or who started late to the game and needs intensive training to get up to speed.
Thank you! I appreciate as much advice as possible
there are so many!
@TheaterMAMA1
My D has no personal experience with the Musical Theatre Lab at Vineyard Arts which runs for two weeks, late July through the first third of August but this program is among them that rates highly.
It’s taught by a good mix of performers with deep, successful industry experience, trainers for those who are and MT professors. Many students repeat the program year over year because of their experience.
Here is a link to the summary of what I found:

I throw this one “in the mix” for you since you are looking for a high value program, and from what I can tell, this is one of them.
These are all great options for summer and are new to me. Proves this board is such a great source of information. You have a lot to choose from! No lack of opportunities for our kiddos if you have the money to participate.
We are looking at the UNSCA Summer Drama Intensive, which seems the most affordable, as well as TPAP, and SUTE. But SUTE doesn’t include housing, so that’s now probably not an option for us.
Oops, UNCSA… too many letters!
wow! Lots of info, thank you.
Hard to know which to go with considering its $ and time! I appreciate any advice however
@TheaterMAMA1 I can’t offer any insight based on personal knowledge, as this is my D’s first time attending a summer intensive. I searched the topic on these boards and that’s how I found out about UNCSA program. The Artsbridge website actually had a list of top summer programs with a little info on each one as well. There are so many out there!! I was looking for one with housing, that had a variety of optional classes based on personal interests, one that was 2-4 weeks long and wouldn’t cost a fortune. UNCSA fit that perfectly. TPAP seemed great too, but we just started researching this week and she didn’t have time to submit an audition video by this week’s deadline. And like I said before, she liked the idea of SUTE with all the different instructors for a bunch of top schools, but the lack of housing was a problem for us. Anyway, we were kind of rushed in our search, so I’d be interested to hear what programs you’ve found as well. Good luck! Let’s hope some families with first hand experience will chime in for you!
I love the artsbridge and saw there site, but some that they listed also had a bad rap from things ive researched so it deterred me from looking at that source as 100% reliable.
