Harvard summer school program?

Junior Statesmen of America at Yale?

Summer volunteering/internship in Thailand

The thing I really don't get about the summer school program is you're basically paying a LOT of money to put something on your college app. anyone want to explain why these summer schools are regarded so highly? i could just as easily take classes at my local community college?

see, they arent regarded that highly. as far as i know its not that competitive to get into as long as u have the money and the only part that impresses colleges is that uve had experience on an actual college campus. as far as prestige goes, theres not much of it. Programs like TASP and RSI, etc. are prestigious..not the ones u listed. i would definitely suggest the internship with the volunterr work. definitely.

Yeah. Def no prestigious. Also, it's kinda dumb that you're only doing this for college aps. I would say go for volunteering becasue that's always good, but seeing how you're a selfish person, I don't think you should. You're not good enough to do community service for its own sake and you have to ask if it's good for college aps to do it. Oh, if they could only see.

well see...kkekee whatever, that's why i put at the bottom that i think the summer programs are a piece of crap so i chose the volunteering over being able to say "i went to harvard over the summer!" like a retard and have people oooing and aaaing me even when i know that it's worthless.

and with you saying that i'm only doing it for the apps then couldn't i just take the easy way out and go volunteer at the local YMCA instead of going to thailand and spending a $1000+? i've always wanted to go to thailand and i absolutely love traveling and learning about other cultures. my dad, however, told me to stay in the country because he thought it might be dangerous and too expensive so i was asking which programs would give me the best learning experience, time in the summer, and best value for my money.

i was in no way refering to "which looks better on my app?" and i'm sorry if it seemed that way. trust me, i spent a loooonng time sorting this out and i'm just doing it because i want to. so next time whenever you start attacking people, please don't do it based on first assumptions.

pwnt.

Also, you know going to Thailand looks a lot better than just YMCA so don't pull that crap

not really. all my sister ever did was volunteer at the YMCA and well, she's now a happy junior at Cornell. hmmm, lol i guess it's not so bad after all...

uhmm, im just going to assume you're having a bad day because you've now gotten into a "fight" with like 3 people. well, i hope your day gets better! but oh no! im "selfish" so im not sincere when i say that...

I'm just jealous of the fact that you have "ditto" in your name. Also, I'm *y by nature. Don't worry about it. I'm a emo * that dyes his hair black to be different. True story.

cgm, yea that's pretty much why i chose JSA too. i want to be an international lawyer someday and i've always been interested in law and traveling to places around the world. i really don't want some boring job, i'm also passionate about working to raise awareness for bad situations abroad and i love learning about new cultures. however, the program is kind of expensive so i was just wondering what you would actually do in it.
