Stony Brook
Binghamton
Geneseo
University at Buffalo

I was wondering which one is the best for someone who is interested in going to medical school. I understand that Stony Brook has its own medical school and a hospital on campus, but how is its acceptance rate at other medical schools. I 'm also considering Binghamton, but idk if its really good for Bio/ medical.
Can some1 help me out??

My daughter is a freshman pre-med at Stonybrook - She selected Stonybrook over Bing and she loves it. This summer she will be working for a doctor who hires a Stonybrook student every summer. I think having the medical school on campus allows this kind of exposure to the students. Stonybrook has a great reputation when it comes to the sciences and math.

easy so, i think it would be better to look into the percentage of the graduate class each year that were able to make it into medical school.. for binghamton, i know it is only 62%, while for Dartmouth, it is 93%

is binghamton a good second choice to stonybrook? because i live on long island and i would prefer to travel as far away as possible. unfortunately, i am limited to suny colleges. so...any thoughts?

yeah, bing is good, but stony is the best by far for pre-med. not quite sure why would you intentionally choose to be as far away as possible, it becomes a hassle when you have to drive 5 hours back home on the holidays or weekends. being closer to home is an advantage, trust me.

Under Pressure
My daughter went to SB and we live 30 minutes away. She also wanted to be far away, so she transferred to Cornell. We actually saw her more when she was at Cornell than when she was at SB. Because she knew she could come home any time she never did. She might as well have been on the other side of the country. She met people from all over so it's not just a LI school. In fact Bing might have just as many people from LI. You might travel all that way to fell like you never left!

i have family issues which is why i would choose to be away from long island. however my dad is in the navy and is involved in this program where i go to suny for free.
my uncle lives literally down the block from suny stonybrook so i would still see my family alot more if i went to binghamton.
i was actually thinking about going to cornell. i heard that there is some suny programs located there. does anyone know anything about this?
thanks Entity and SMBOMOF3

saydough: stonybrook but if you if you weren't interested in being premed, I'd say binghamton and geneseo are the better schools because they are rated higher and more selective but I think stonybrook has a better science program. It is well known for that

underpressure: yes, binghamton is a good second choice (i wanna get off the island too) And as I said above^, if you aren't interested in being premed or anything to do with the sciences, I think it is the better choice. Actually, I'd personally chose it even if I was planning to be Premed, it's a great school.

Hi , I’m a Sophomore in high school and going to graduate at the end of junior year(11th grade) . I didn’t take any Ap courses but I’m taking chemistry and next year i’m taking physics . I live in new York City. What is an affordable college for premed? Should i stay in school and take ap or graduate in 1 year and go to college ?

I’m a junior in high school and I wanted to go to Cornell but I read that they didn’t offer a pre med program, when your daughter transferred did she get involved in a pre med program? Sorry if my questions seem a little funky, I’m new to this. I live 2 hours away from Cornell, I was considering Stony Brook but it’s 5 hours from where I live.
