Wondering which teachers I should ask for a letter of rec. My journalism teacher of 3 years knows me really well and is willing to write me a letter, but she isn't a "core class" teacher -- is that going to be frowned upon? I could also ask my math teacher or my physics teacher. My math teacher knows me relatively well, but I'm concerned that she does not have very good grammar/writing skills from what I've seen of the notes we take in class. My physics teacher doesn't know me very well, but I worked really hard in that class and showed him the type of student I am. So I think he could write a positive letter. Of these three, which two would you recommend?

I would get the recommendation from the Journalism teacher and the Physics teacher(assuming he is a good writer). It really does not matter that the journalism teacher is not a “core class” teacher as long as she knows you well.

I agree with theboss123, just make sure that the school does not require 2 core subject teachers.
I personally asked an AP teacher and one of my favorite teachers who I felt did not have the best grammatical skills, but I did very well in his class and he obviously liked me. He showed me the recommendation that he sent, and, as it turns out, it was excellent in terms of both content and grammar.
