Agreed.
I am self-learning Korean right now and think it’s really interesting.
I will definitely take AP Korean!

AP Cheating, AP Nature Call

I would have loved to see AP Marine Biology

^I would take these in a heartbeat. Maybe call it AP Physics D though :)

AP Figure out ways to make Collegeboard Money

If you get a 5, they pay you

definitely AP Blowjobs… how else are students suppose to know how to properly blow apart the competition in this competitive job market. just sayin

I think courses like AP Anthropology, AP Philosophy, and AP Sociology could work. I think Anthropology would be particularly popular.

However, I think the big issue is that there are AP tests that cover too much information and should be broken down (similar to Physics C). They should consider this for Bio, Chem, and APUSH. I think such a split would be particularly helpful to Bio, which can be split into E & M like SAT 2.

I don’t expect CB to be making any higher-level AP maths, yet. I kow that in my school district, next year (or maybe the year after) we will have 9th Grade Algebra 2 students (10th Grade Pre-Calc; 11th Grade Calc BC; 12th Grade ?). Thus, I think that in a few years CB may start higher level math classes (multivariate calc, linear algebra, or diff eq), but it will probably miss a lot of CCers

Also, we won’t see more science offerings (sans breaking down some like they’ve done w/ Physics C). They already cover the traditional high school sciences (bio, chem, physics). Anything more specific (astronomy, anatomy, etc) would be better covered as school electives w/o the AP label.

^They would double up on math 9th grade year. Take AP Calc AB Sophomore year(I know kids who’ve done this).

I would take AP Astronomy in a heartbeat, but I could see CB incorporating it into a Physics class like, “AP Physics C: Astronomy”. I would definitely love to see AP Korean, although being a small country, I feel like CB is only creating AP language classes to accommodate the more economically sound countries(i.e: Japan, China, Germany, growing Hispanic population in the US). AP Portuguese would be a great transition from AP Hispanic Literature.

But, I’d love language credits for being a native speaker of Vietnamese!
: D

Edit: Looking through the other AP idea thread, I saw AP Media and Journalism. Being a yearbook nerd, I would love to get college credit for it Senior year.

Any or all of the below:

[List of Advanced Level subjects - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](List of Advanced Level subjects - Wikipedia)

What about improving the current tests first before adding new ones?

first post on this page, discuss now!

@ pie 795, u miscalculated there (guess 'cause ur not pi)

@ChickenfriedRice
I’m not sure u interpretted what I posted correctly, which is my fault for not making it clear. The kids are now taking Alg 1 7th Grade (as opposed to 8th Grade) and Geo 8th Grade, which would lead to the sequence I posted.
I would also jump @ AP Astronomy, even though it wouldn’t fit in my schedule.

Anything beyond BC calculus and Physics C would be pointless, too few kids even get to that level in high school
Kids in the advanced program at my school usually end up taking precal or an algebra 2/trig integrated course freshman year, calc AB as sophomores BC as juniors and Stats as Seniors
I completed BC last year as a freshman so next year I’ll be taking stats and I’ll have to go to community college to take classes. There have only been 4-5 kids who were finished with AB/BC/Stats by junior year in my school district ever (I know there are schools where taking calculus as a freshman is not too unheard of) but very few kids would take things like linear algebra/mtv calc/diff eqs

@ Parochial

The change is new in my district, it might be 1 or 2 yrs old. I myself took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, b/c that was the best offering available. But, remember that these will be the advanced students, regular kids will start off w/ Algebra 1 in 9th grade, which is the usual route.

But, I know from math competitions that a lot of kids have Calc by junior year (some even b4!). The only way I could see that would be to push back Alg 1 or to eliminate Pre-Calc (which is a review of Alg 2)

AP Linguistics
AP Music History
AP Performance Art (I mean if we have AP Studio Art, why not performance? Could include monologues, playwriting, music composition, vocal or instrumental solos, etc.)

AP Sociology and AP Anthropology
