Which UC/CSS is best for Political Science?

As a student in California I am curious as to see which UC and/or California State Schools, private schools are good as well are best fit for an intended Political Science major? A simple google search isn’t really helping much to answer my question.

“Best fit” is very personal so you need to research each school’s curriculum to determine for yourself which schools would provide you with the right academics and internships toward your career goals. Also you need to be able to get into any of these particular schools so do you have any stats to post?

Here is a list to start with:
Stanford
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna
Loyola Marymount
Cal Poly SLO
San Diego State
CSU Long Beach
Sacramento State
Santa Clara
Pepperdine
Occidental
UC Santa Cruz
UC Riverside

Sac and Davis are both proximate to the state capitol, which they both take advantage of pretty well it really depends on your qualifications, budget and other interests.

Agree^. Lots of interns in Sacramento from Davis. Some from Berkeley.

In the LA area, there are a plenty of internships available for UCLA, USC…students majoring in political science.

I go to Pomona College and I’m majoring in Politics and the department is awesome. Definitely check out the Claremont Colleges, Pitzer also has a good politics program or CMC

Is the Politics Major at Pomona and/or 5Cs teaching a philosophy or activity or is it about structural aspects of the political system? Just curious how “balanced” the school and major are. Political Science is different than Politics in a classical sense as I’m sure you know. As an example, walking around the 5Cs, saw a fck a certain SC nominee, and not sure if that is what is being “taught” or in fact how the system of federal courts and sc judge appointments work and how to influence it above board.

Thank you for replying! I am a first generation student and citizen, Latina (Mexican), low income, and LGBT so if a school need diversity I’m a good candidate. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.7
SAT:1200
Community Service: 80+ hours
AP classes taken: AP Spanish Language (5 on AP test), AP English Language (3 on AP Test), and currently taking AP US Government and Politics, and AP English Literature. I took Honors English sophomore year and I am also enrolled in the honors economics class in my school
Class Rank: 123

Cal states and UC’s do not consider race/ethnicity nor sexual orientation in the admission decisions. Low income/first generation are considered.

Target UC Riverside and Santa Cruz along with the Cal states except for San Diego and Cal poly SLO. Sac state is a good option due to proximity to the state capital.
