I am interested in doing comp sci, but i do not know which UCs (excluding Berkeley and LA) have a good computer science program. According to what i researched so far, SD and Irvine have a good computer science program, but I'm not 100% if its correct so i want to hear it from you guys.

UCSC has a great Computer Science program with options for a BA or BS, and one of the few schools with a CS degree in Game Design as well.

Word on the street is that UCSD and UCI have good computer science programs. UCSB too. UC Davis too.

Honestly they’re all probably going to be pretty much the same, haha. UCSD and UCI probably have the best reputation for computer science (ignoring LA/Berk).

ye, CS classes are pretty standardized. The difference is what the individual UC applies it to that is in relation to their primary research goals and how its integrated into other research departments.

For example, UCSD gets HUGE grants from NSF that may be used for say monitoring the oceans (collaborative with Scripts) or Energy or Bioinfomatics (large bio grants) Audiology (big music and audio(voice and listening devices for the deaf) engineering depts) computational power and telecommunications etc.

Some of the grants may be collaborative with other proximity UC’s ie UCI and UCR studying XSLT and XML queries related to semantic web stuff like RDF’s etc.
All depends on whats your cup of tea and complimentary flavors of cheese and crackers you prefer.
