Unfortunately I got rejected by RISD today, so it’s time to decide where else to go!
Here are some universities that kindly accepted me as their students:
p.s. I’m still waiting for Parsons’ offer but not quite sure if it has a good illustration program.
@Rerorero all of them are excellent schools and will give you wonderful training in illustration or whatever you eventually decide for your major. If it’s any consolation, MICA is kind of a rival to RISD so it’s like getting rejected by Harvard but accepted at Yale!
Each school is different so you should try to visit as many as possible over the next month to better understand which one fits you best. MICA and SAIC are pretty interdisciplinary, Pratt very structured (and is actually part of the Communication Design major). SVA was founded as an illustration school so has a particular tradition there.
MICA and Pratt would be considered a “real” campus, while SVA and SAIC are more “urban” campuses with dorms down the block, etc.

Edit/update: just noticed the Parson’s comment. Not sure about their illustration program but they have a very strong graphic design dept. which is not far off from illustration. (both being applied arts . . . ). Parson’s is located in the Village - very busy and New Yorky - SVA might actually be quieter up in Midtown! Parson’s has a big brand new building which is very impressive. Dorms are not guaranteed (similar to SVA) and a lot of kids actually commute there from the surrounding area. I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with any of those schools so you should figure out which one fits you best.

I’m now wishing my friend applied to MICA. She’s trying to choose between Pratt and SVA for illustration. Probably going to go with SVA. Rejected by RISD.
