My friend told me to not take Writing 39C after B, because C is really difficult and time-consuming. He suggested there are other lower-div writing courses that are relatively easy.

Does anyone else agree? Or suggest anything?

Depends. People opt out of 39C and take stuff like poetry or creative writing for two reasons: they’re not willing to deal with the heavy workload, or they don’t feel the need to take what 39C teaches, which is mostly research-paper based. Granted that you’re assigned a decent TA for 39C, I would recommend taking it. My assumption is that learning good research methods and doing what you can to challenge your writing abilities will only help you in the future. Especially if you’re in a major that’ll require you to construct long research papers and theses. I’m a bio major, and I know I’m going to have to write more papers in the future, so if I didn’t take humanities I would have taken 39C. It really is up to you. Good luck.

I thought writing 39C was easier than 39B, it just depends but I would recommend taking it.
