While in wait...

How is everyone holding up, waiting for decisions to arrive?

I'm getting nervous. I think the worst thing is not knowing when the letters will start being sent out...!

I think it is almost worse if you know THE day it is suppose to be coming. Scripps (another Claremont College) sent theirs out on Fri the 23rd, so my daughter should get it tomorrow. It is going to be a long day, since our mail doesn't come until after 5pm.

I wish all the colleges had an on-line way to check.

I don't think there's any link between one school's date to send & another's, but we can always hope, right? Maybe Pomona will start sending them this week, too.

Pomona will send them out sometime next week. I asked while there yesterday. So, not much longer now. :)

NEXT week is not much longer?? We live in VT and if my son wants to visit again, it will be interesting getting affordable (or not) reservations!

I suggest trying JetBlue and Southwest for more affordable, last-minute tickets. Also, it's a good idea to fly into Ontario Airport rather than LAX, Burbank, Orange County or Long Beach. Ontario is only 15 minutes away from campus by car and there are affordable SuperShuttle and taxi fares for the trip. Good luck!

if you can fly jetblue out of Burlington through JFK and to Ontario, it's an easy two flights and its usually not too expensive. Going to Ontario will also put you within 15 minutes of campus, or about a $20 cab ride.

Aside from the fact that next week seems like an eternity to ME (thank goodness, D seems absolutely fine with waiting), I've also been worrying about arranging flights. JetBlue's flights to Ontario seem pretty limited and Southwest's are selling out quickly. You can tell that I'm not at all obsessive about this.

I guess all that last minute arranging would be a good problem to have though, right?

There are also regional receptions for accepted students that might prove to be a lower-cost alternative. An Admissions representative and local alumni attend and there usually is a PowerPoint presentation that you can view at your leisure. Accepted students will receive information about the receptions in their areas.

Thanks so much for the info about airlines and airports! Of course, I'm not counting on son being admitted or I'd have made reservations already. We visited last summer, but it was hard to get a feeling about the place without students and classes.

word on the street is that letters got sent out today. then again, street word is often incorrect.

I think the street is incorrect, because Pomona's website said that it's actually April 10th, eek!

Word on the street is indeed correct, people! At 4:30ish today, Dean of Admissions Bruce Poch rang the bells on top of Sumner Hall that ring only once a year - when decision letters for first-years leave the office!

FYI, the April 10 date is, like all Pomona admissions deadlines, a receipt deadline. It's the day by which they expect applicants to receive decisions at their home address.

Thanks for the super news, chopsticks! I am really looking forward to hearing from Pomona. It is tied for top place in my son's list, so we can hardly wait.

Good luck to us all! :-)

According to an older post by LittleMother, the acceptances are sent Priority Mail.
If they were put into the mail Thurs afternoon, some people may get them today and probably a lot of people will get them on Saturday.

I really don't want to see another decision. I've been rejected enough. I'd honestly rather not know than know that I've been rejected.

Pomona has been bumped up to my #1 school after visiting on Monday, so I'm not looking forward to this letter.

Good luck to everyone.

My friend who got accepted RD received his letter today.

Where's your friend live?

We are in LA, so it's around an hour away from Pomona.

Still no word here. Maybe today's mail.
